Todos Santos - living in the clouds, literally

Todos Santos is a village in Huehuetenango, a department that borders Mexico. It is famous for its very strong indigenous culture and the inhabitant's resistance during the war. My pictures do not do the place and its people any justice. The men and women there wear beautiful handmade clothing with lots of very colorful weavings. Most people speak Mam and live very traditional life styles. The village is surrounding by these overwhelming mountains that dwarf everything around them and the clouds roll in and suddenly cover the whole area. For me, it was like going to a different world.

I hiked into the mountains and you could see Todos Santos nestled into the steep valley.

The village buried under a "cloud blanket"

Me in the clouds. Since I was traveling by myself, it was a bit tricky taking pictures of myself. So, bear with me.

The clouds engulfing the Cuchumatanes mountains.
