Semuc Champey - nature's perfect swimming pool

Semuc Champey is an incredibly beautiful place in the middle of the jungle of Alta Verapaz. It's a bit difficult to get there, but it is definitely worth seeing. It is this formation that creates a natural bridge of about 10 pools of water. The river that feeds these pools actually flows underneath them. I'm not sure how it all works, but the result is a truly magical place.

Crystal clear water in the middle of the jungle - need I say more?

The water can't get any clearer than that.

The original infinity pool - nature just does it best

There are about 8 different pools that form the 'water bridge'. You can swim in all of them, and of course, I did.

In some places you could actually swim from one lagoon to the next through little "passageways" like this one.

The river before it goes underground and flows underneath the pools.
